Granblue Fantasy is Getting a Cross-Media Adaptation

granblue fantasy 06-09-15-1

We’ve learned that mobile game Granblue Fantasy is getting a cross media adaptation.

The news comes from an interview with game producer, Haruta Koichi, who said that a new form of media was in the works. While details are currently scant, we’ve gathered anything worthwhile here:

Q: Among the users, which characters are popular?

Haruta Koichi: Definitely Vira (TL note: ブイラーVira, or Buira. We originally used the translation Bluer), voiced by Imai Asami.

There are other ones that are popular, but none with as many devoted fans. Illustrators seem to like Danua (voiced by Sasaki Nozomi).

Q: What expansion will happen for Granblue going forward?

Koichi: We have an idea for what we want to do as a game, and we’re working to have spinoff content by the end of the year.

The protagonist we have now is a different story, and it may fit into a genre other than RPG. We’ll have features for the characters.

We’re progressively moving forward into cross-media expansion. Summer and Autumn will be times when we can share more information with you.

It’s worth mentioning that while the Koichi only mentions a cross-media expansion, multiple sources speculate that it will be an anime.

Considering the game’s success, we’re expecting an anime, too. We’ll keep you guys posted.

(Editor’s note: The original article had the producer’s name misspelled, and a misleading title. They have been changed to be closer to the source)
