Chronos is a Fantasy, Atmospheric RPG Made Specifically for the Oculus Rift

Gunfire Games, a studio made up of mostly former Vigil Games (Darksiders) developers, have revealed their latest project – an Oculus Rift-RPG named Chronos.

While details are currently scant, we know the game is being poised as an atmospheric RPG, where you’ll experience the a grueling labyrinth through your character’s entire lifetime. Featured above, you can view the debut trailer for the game.

To explain, with each death, your character is essentially “locked out” of the labyrinth for an entire year. When you’re able to return into the maze, your character will be an entire year older.

As you explore the ruins, caverns, tombs, and more, you’ll get to watch your character change and gain new traits as he ages. For example, when he’s young, he’ll naturally move quicker and be more on his toes, but when he grows older, he’ll be tougher and wiser.

Chonos is set for a release on PC, for Oculus Rift, next year.

Looks quite interesting. The aging mechanic in particular seems really cool.

It would be nice to see a bit more of the game, because right now it just looks boring

i do wonder how much the oculus and similar will make generally less enjoyable gaming things (such as creeping around a maze, compared to FIGHTING ZOMBIE DRAGONS) more engaging. playing a maze game without combat with pretty graphics seems stupid, unless (os so i suspect) you are visually immersed completely
