While the recommended PC specifications for the Oculus Rift have been confirmed, many Linux and Mac OS X users have been wondering if they’ll be getting support for the HMD anytime soon.
However, now we’ve learned via Chief Architect at Oculus Atman Binstock that development on the Mac and Linux support for the hardware has been “paused.”
“Our development for OS X and Linux has been paused in order to focus on delivering a high quality consumer-level VR experience at launch across hardware, software, and content on Windows,” Binstock said. “We want to get back to development for OS X and Linux but we don’t have a timeline.”
Are you a Mac or Linux user? Does the company putting support for those platforms on hold push you away from considering picking up the Oculus?
