Acquire has revealed the debut trailer for their upcoming PlayStation 3 and PS Vita defense game, Zettai Geigeki Wars: Metropolis Defenders.

Featured above, you can view the debut trailer, which showcases various gameplay mechanics in the strategy game. The entire game is centered on a rotating city that you’re tasked with defending from enemies as they come in waves. As you defeat your enemies, you’re also enabled to upgrade and develop your city.

We’ve also gotten a description of the game’s prologue, courtesy of Famitsu:

Altanight, an underground shelter that was meant to be a final shelter for people who had their lives destroyed, mysteriously appeared after the “Invisible End.” Unfortunately, a giant alien life form appeared, and subsequently the Altanight was lost.

Roughly half a century later..

Following a considerable amount of sacrificing from our ancestors, humans were finally capable of building a city that can defend itself from these giant invaders. In order to survive and repopulate, we have to expand the city while protecting the people.

Metropolis Defenders is coming to PS3 and PS Vita on July 2nd in Japan.
