Skybox Labs has announced a new expansion for Age of Empires II: HD Edition.

The new expansion will be the third new addition to the game in over sixteen years, following Skybox Labs’ previous expansion for the game, The Forgotten. “Forgotten Empires became a great content addition that both stayed true to the AOE spirit and moved the franchise forward,” said developer MS Ryz0n on the Steam post. “And I’m excited to reveal that we’ll be working with the team to formally bring a new expansion to Age of Empires later this year.”

While The Forgotten added new technologies, units, and civilizations, we’ve already learned of a new camel-riding unit (pictured above), as well as new civilizations, game modes, campaigns, (even more) new units, and more. This new expansion is being handled by the same team that developed the previous expansion, and they’re promising that fans of the original Age of Empires II game can look forward “to additional support and features that benefit every owner.”
