We’ve learned (via Games Talk) that Square Enix and Team Ninja’s upcoming Dissidia Final Fantasy for arcades might include some extra bounciness.

Not only is Team Ninja helping out with the game, but they may be even lending their engine to it as well. While it hasn’t been in use so far, fans have been speculating the possibilities, and now even some of the major developers from Square and Team Ninja have gone on to talk about what they might do with it.

During the interview, many questions were asked; one of which was about the decision to have the game featured in arcades.

Director Takeo Kujiraoka said this: ““We didn’t think about it originally, but after being asked by Taito if we could make it an arcade game, we went to look at an arcade center, we instantly thought ‘it could work well in arcades’,” before going on to explain that in addition, sequel sales tend to decrease for packaged games, so moving Dissidia into arcades was done to help out that way as well.

Following that, the question that many fans had been pondering was asked – would Team Ninja devote their Soft Engine to the game, now that they are involved with the games development.

Yosuke Hayashi, the current head of Team Ninja and the producer of Dead or Alive, said that they have already suggested the possibility of using it, but that they haven’t actually tried implementing it yet. He then mentioned that if there’s a strong demand from the fans, there’s no doubt that it could be done. The possibility sounds like it’s more than just a fan’s dream at this point.

Furthermore, Kujiraoka was prompted to talk about the characters in the game, mentioning that he would like to have all the original characters from the past games return, in addition to new characters that would be added through updates.
