The game is already on Windows, Linux, and Mac PCs, and InXile Entertainment will now be porting the “Game of the Year Edition” of Wasteland 2 to both the Xbox One and the Playstation 4 home consoles, according to Xbox Wire and the Playstation Blog. There’s no specific date for the ports yet, which simply have a “late Summer 2015” release window.
For those of you wondering what the GOTY Edition of Wasteland 2 entails, Eric Schwarz of InXile Entertainment explains:
For the Game of the Year Edition, we’ve ported Wasteland 2 to Unity 5, the latest version of this highly versatile game engine, which has let us overhaul the game with some new visual effects, improved character models, upgraded environments, and Unity 5’s physically based shading to get more realistic lighting and shadowing.
That’s on the graphical side. As the GDC trailer below explains, the new edition also includes a new Quirks and Perks system, a new Precision Strike system, and new voice-overs.
