Prior to the launch of Final Fantasy Type-0 HD, fans had found a teaser trailer just before the game’s end credits. The teaser trailer was clearly an indication of a sequel of some kind, although we’ve yet to get official confirmation.
However, during the game’s Hong Kong launch event, game director Hajime Tabata revealed a batch of artwork for what the company is calling “Final Fantasy Type-Next.”
You can find that artwork below, courtesy of Games Talk:
Tabata revealed that he began production on the sequel after development on Final Fantasy Type-0 had concluded. Now that he’s at the head of Final Fantasy XV, the development has come to a halt. It’s worth mentioning the images with backdrops of Hong Kong were prepared solely for the event, and are not indicative of the game’s themes.
For now, the special movie that is shown at the end of Final Fantasy Type-0 HD is all fans have to go by, as the project is currently in limbo. Tabata and his team want to continue developing the sequel, but nothing is confirmed yet.
