This trailer confirms (in Cyrillic) that Liu Kang is in fact returning as a fighter, as had been rumored. For those of you who don’t know or can’t remember: Liu Kang was the main protagonist of the first four games, as well as the live-action Mortal Kombat movie, and is a martial artist commonly associated with oriental dragons and the element of fire.

Like Kung Lao, he appears to have become an antagonist in Mortal Kombat X, as we see him siding with Shinnok in one of the cinematic scenes, and giving Raiden lip.

Mortal Kombat X is due for a worldwide release on April 14, on the PC, Playstation 4, and Xbox One. The PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of the fighting game will follow later in the year.
