[UPDATE: we’ve added full HD videos of the dungeon gameplay and the wildlife video.]

Square Enix streamed new footage for their upcoming Final Fantasies at a London-held Active Time Report today. You can watch the Final Fantasy XV clips at the times indicated above; we discuss them below. Any information that’s already been covered in previous livestreams can be found here and here.

(Go here for coverage of the new FF Type-0 HD demo and trailer.)

Open-world exploration

  • This out-in-the-open forest video was pre-recorded on an Xbox One.
  • Tabata reveals that players will be able to customize their controls in the final game, but that the demo provides a specific control scheme so that the team can consider the feedback.
  • The level cap for characters in the “Episode Duscae” demo is set at 99. Players needn’t level that much, but they can if they want to. The level cap in the final game is yet to be decided.
  • Ignis is from a different part of the world than the rest of the party, hence his different accent.

Cave gameplay

  • In this pre-recorded Playstation 4 footage, Noctis and his friends explore a cave where goblins reside. We get to see them show off more of their special abilities against the critters.
  • The developers wanted to create the fear that was present in earlier Final Fantasy dungeons.
  • Tabata says that hit-stuns have been sped up based on fan feedback.
  • It’s also revealed that there’s an advanced guard technique, which uses no MP, for players who collect Phantom Swords.

“World of Wonder” wildlife clip

  • Recorded in the style of a nature documentary, this video shows the animals, monsters, and other creatures that will be in the game.
  • Lots of the chocobos is shown off, as well as eagles, frogs, behemoths, and more.
  • Tabata says that only part of the Duscae region is available in “Episode Duscae”.
  • The full Duscae region is much bigger, and includes urban areas, towns, and ruins. The full game’s world is said to be more than ten times the size of the entire Duscae region.
  • There are no town in the demo. In their place, players have outposts and little facilities of interest to visit.
  • Players will also get to interact with other wandering characters in the demo—Tabata mentions to keep an eye out for a specific couple.
  • The chocobos will be in “Episode Duscae”, but players won’t be able to ride them. That functionality is being reserved for the full game

The demo version of FFXV, “Episode Duscae”, will be included with first-print copies of Final Fantasy Type-0 HD, and will also be available with digital purchases of Type-0 HD for the first two months after its release date. Type-0 HD is coming to the Playstation 4 and Xbox One on March 17 in North America, and March 20 in Europe.
