This week’s Famitsu magazine has revealed that developer Granzella has reacquired the rights to the Disaster Report series.

To be clear, Granzella is made up of most of the former members of IP holder Irem. Granzella boss (and Disaster Report series creator) Kazuma Kujo confirmed the news:

“We’ll keep trying no matter how long it takes, and we’ll never give up! I’ll keep on going.”

Kujo also confirmed that a new game in the series is coming in fall of next year. The last game in the series, Disaster Report 4: Summer Memories, was scheduled for Playstation 3, but unfortunately got cancelled after the 2011 Tohoku earthquake. The game’s cancellation was then followed by the departure of Kazuma Kujo and most of the employees at Irem.
