German game publisher bitComposer, who recently put out Shadows: Heretic Kingdoms, has filed for insolvency. Reported by German-speaking site Gamers Global, it would seem that bitComposer hasn’t been able to keep itself afloat and is unable to meet its financial obligations.
This is of interest to CRPG’ers who were recently shocked to see Chaos Chronicles return to steam’s listings this fall, since it may not even materialize if bitComposer goes under.
bitComposer owns the rights to several key franchises, such as Jagged Alliance and the as-of-yet-used rights to a future video game adaption of Strugatsky’s Roadside Picnic. Which is to say that perhaps one or more of their IPs may get sold to help them balance their budget.
