Square Enix is really looking to build their latest RPG, Bravely Default, into another iterated series much like Final Fantasy.

They just revealed a new smartphone RPG dubbed Bravely Archive: D’s Report for both iOS and Android devices. The game is set several hundred years after the events of the mainline Bravely Default/Second games, in an alternate world that is something like a “what if” scenario.

Here are the game’s debut screenshots:

The game also features four returning characters from the browser game, Bravely Default: Praying Brage:

The above characters (from left to right) include: The Vestal of Wind Edea Lee Oblige, the Vestal of Water Kyuri Oblige, the Vestal of Fire Iglia Ningva Oblige and finally the Vestal of Earth Lilia Rosso Oblige.

Combat unfolds via turn based mechanics, where you assemble a party of up to six adventurers and fight monsters from the Bravely Default series. You can use flick swipes that let you quickly choose between using various forms of magic or physical attacks. There are unique effects from the attacks, like knocking enemies into the air and following up with a combo.

There are over 30 job classes to choose from in the game, each of which bringing unique traits and abilities to your party. Some jobs may be more physical damage focused, while others can be more spell-oriented, allowing you to unleash fire spells. You can even level up and grow each individual character as you battle.
