Kadokawa Games has revealed the first trailer showcasing the new version of Rodea the Sky Soldier.

Featured above, you can press play to be whisked away to another world crafted by developer Prope, which is helmed by Sonic creator Yuji Naka. It features a theme song dubbed “Forever,” which is sung by the singer-songwriter Chay.

In the game, you step into the shoes of Rodea, a legendary mechanized soldier, who is woken up from a thousand year sleep by a girl named Ion. Despite her looking very similar to an old adversary, you join forces with her to fight the evil Naga empire as the encroach upon the continent of Garuda.

Rodea the Sky Soldier was originally in development for the Wii and 3DS, but was retooled and switched off to the Wii U and 3DS instead. It’s set for a release in Japan sometime next spring.
