The Next Ys Installment Is Sitting At A Pretty 30%

Ys

This week’s Dengeki PlayStation has revealed that the newest Ys installment is currently at about 30% completion. Falcom’s newest game is rumored to take place before Ys Seven, somewhere in the timeline between Ys V and Ys VI.

The setting has already been revealed as the “Goethe Sea,” which is an archipelago of South Gria. The sea has a huge presence in all of the game’s imagery thus far, showing up in many of the promo images. It’s also been said that new elements and systems will be added to the game, and some previous characters will be returning as well. It’s anyone’s guess as to who may be brought back.

Toshihiro Kondo, Falcom’s president, has said that the development for PlayStation 4 has been a huge trial-and-error process, but that the team working on it is dedicated and motivated. He’s hopeful that they will be able to add the PS4’s Share functions and other special perks.

In any case, this new Ys is due out in Japan next year some time.
