Peter Molyneux: Kinect on Xbox One “Feels More and More Like a Joke”

Peter Molyneux, the founder of indie studio 22cans and the creator of the Fable series, has said a few very interesting things about Microsoft’s Kinect, which the Xbox One requires as an add-on.

In an interview with Edge, Molyneux said, “I actually wish Kinect wasn’t a requirement. It feels like an unnecessary add-on to me. Maybe it’s because we’re in England, and it doesn’t really use the TV stuff, but it feels more and more like a joke. My son and I sit there saying random things at it, and it doesn’t work.”

He also points out the obvious thing later adopters have been clamoring for Microsoft to do, and that is for Kinect to not be a mandatory add-on, and to therefore be able to release a Kinect-less Xbox One. “I’m sure [Microsoft is] going to release an Xbox One without Kinect,” he said. “It would be unthinkable that they wouldn’t.”

22cans’ latest game, Godus, is currently available through Steam Early Access.
