Sony has confirmed that the Playstation 4 system update 1.60 that brings wireless headset support is going to launch tonight. The update will support both the original Pulse headset, and the Pulse Elite headset.

Alongside this awesome update, Sony revealed a brand new headset, called simply the Gold Wireless Headset. Launching sometime this month in North America and on February 10th in Europe, it offers the same stunning 7.1 virtual surround sound as its predecessors, custom sound profiles mustered by Playstation game developers, a hidden noise canceling microphone, and other features.

Check out a trailer for the new Gold Wireless Headset below:

The Gold Wireless Headset will set you back $99 / £79.99/ €89.99 respectively, and it will also launch with a free Headset Companion App, software that will allow you to download custom and game-specific audio modules created by the developers of both first and third party games.

John Koller, vice president of marketing at SCEA, had this to say about the update, and the new headset:

“Audio is a critical part of the overall gaming experience, and because our headsets are made for PlayStation gamers, by gamers, you’ll truly hear the action the way it was meant to sound. We’re also excited to introduce our new Gold Wireless Headset, which provides the actual audio experience that game developers created.”
