H.P. Lovecraft has always been an obsession of mine, so much so that the first article I ever wrote for my school paper was a biography of the man himself. Having grown up on his books it’s always disappointed me that not enough games explore his work. Sure you get some of his elder gods used as bosses in various RPGs and such, but not much in the way of official usage of the ip other than parodies.
Looks like that’s not the case anymore, since developer Frogwares have announced they are making a brand new Cthulhu mythos game for the PC and “next gen consoles”.
Frogwares is known primarily for the Sherlock Holmes adventure games, which may mean this is some sort of point-and-click game…though that is just speculation at this point. There have been Cthulhu games in the past, such as Frogwares very own Sherlock game that dealt with a Cthulhu cult…so perhaps that lends credence to the theory that it will be an adventure game.
Either way, you can find some screenshots at this website.
