Narcissu is a free visual novel, developed for PC by the doujin group stage-nana. The game is about a young man and woman who both have terminal illnesses, and as such meet in the same hospital. Both of them don’t want to die on a hospital bed, or surrounded by their depressed families, so they drive off together, making a cross-country trip through Japan.
The original game was translated a few years ago into English by a fan translaton group named insani, who also had the help of the game’s writer, Tomo Kataoka. The members of insani formed a new group called the Sekai Project, and have since been able to get both Narcissu and its sequel onto Steam via the Greenlight program. You can view their Steam page here.
Both games will be relocalized, as the original translation is roughly eight years old by now and they feel it could be improved. Both re-translations will have the involvement of the original developer stage-nana as well.
As both visual novels were originally free, they will remain free whenever they are finished and released to Steam. Sekai Project also mentioned they are interested in bringing other projects to Steam in the future.
