New gameplay footage of the action-adventure Rodea the Sky Soldier has made its way online, which you can watch above. We get to see the overworld map, reminiscent of classic Japanese console games, for the first time, as well as get an idea of how story scenes will play out. The video goes on to show off item collection, environmental interaction, and the combat that will be a part of the game.

For most of this demonstration, the game’s played on the Wii U, but we also get to see it on the 3DS toward the end. It’s far more detailed footage than anything that’s been released so far. Enjoy.

Rodea the Sky Soldier will be available in Japan on April 2, and in North America some time this Fall, for the Nintendo Wii U and 3DS.
