10-Minute Video Showcases Sword Coast Legends’ Singleplayer Campaign Gameplay

The above video is a portion of the Twitch livestream developers n-Space held today, which showcases Sword Coast Legends, their upcoming roleplaying game based on the fifth D&D ruleset and set in the Forgotten Realms. We get an idea of what to expect from the game’s singleplayer campaign.

The game’s design director has put together a four-character party consisting of a Fighter, Rogue, Cleric, and Wizard, and takes us through a quest in which he tracks down a necromancer called the Ashen Priest. This quest takes place in the port city of Luskan, which is in the north of the Sword Coast. We’re led through its streets, cemeteries, and sewers.

They begin by demonstrating the game’s controls and the basic gameplay systems. As they mention, Sword Coast Legends has “tactical, party-based combat with pause-and-play”, like many RPGs of the ’90s; we get to see it in action against the Dead Rats, a street gang, and undead zombies (including an ogre zombie). We also get to see the conversation system, which also remains true to the game’s ’90s roots.
