Mega Man 30th Anniversary Broadcast Set for December 4

Capcom has announced an official Mega Man 30th anniversary livestream for next week.

The new broadcast is set for December 4th at 11 AM Pacific / 2 PM Eastern / 7 PM UK time, via the company’s Twitch account.

While the actual 30th anniversary is on December 17th, however they decided to host a stream earlier before the holiday break. Further details weren’t confirmed, but the pre-stream begins 1 hour before the full broadcast.

It’s worth mentioning at this year’s Tokyo Game Show, Mega Man Legacy Collection 2 producer Kazuhiro Tsuchiya teased a potential reveal for the series for its 30th anniversary, alongside the above logo for its anniversary. He told fans to remember the date, and to check out the logo.

Could we be seeing a new Mega Man game reveal? What sort of game would you like to see? Sound off in the comments below!

I don’t expect anything amazing from Capcom, but the bar is so low for Mega Man after Mighty No 9 that even a mundane announcement may make fans of the series happy.

  • Uncle Ocelot

Mega Man X Legacy Collection + some news on that cartoon that’s coming soon, I’d be shocked if we actually get a new game.

  • Wanderer

Capcom could literally just squat down and shit on stage and then walk off and it would still be better for Megaman fans than Mighty No 9 was.

  • NuclearCherries

Holy shit someone at Capcom remembered.

    I expect nothing.

They’re gonna stream their lawyers filing a C&D for MMX Corrupted.

  • Rico Nusman

    Legends 3, c’mon!

  • RPG

  • Cy

Can’t wait to see how they’re going to (further) ruin this series next!

  • DrearierSpider

I doubt anything that good will come out of this, but at they aren’t getting the Metroid treatment.

  • DrearierSpider

As someone who’s never played a Mega Man game (I know, shoot me), I’d be pretty happy to see the X games come to Steam. But I feel for fans who have wanted a new entry for years, I certainly know that pain as a Metroid and Half Life fan.

  • Bassgs

Wow, can’t wait to see how they intend to ruin the legacy this time around

  • OldPalpy

They’ll all easily playable on PC already.

  • MonsterGogo

    Megaman XOver 2 confirmed.

Bad Box Art Megaman for MVCI

  • TheOnceAndFutureKing

one of the promo arts for the event has a cake with 11 drops of icing on top, and the stream starts at 11 as well…

I’m not saying were getting MegaMan 11…but…

  • TheOnceAndFutureKing

Mighty No 9 was just a scam designed as a nostalgic passion project

Unless they’re announcing that they’re starting development on Legends 3 again, this is just spitting in the face of every MegaMan fan.

  • Forky

I’d be willing to believe a Megaman 11 is coming out. another $40 project that they cash in on because it’s just that easy.

  • orbo

Ohhhh boy, I can’t wait to see how they’re gonna desecrate his corpse again!

I have no interest in whatever megaman related cash grab they have coming.
I have just about no interest in anything they do unless I get an apology in the form of legends 3, and that’s not happening.

  • No_Good_Names_Ever

Anything more than nothing is in nobodies best interest. I hope that at most it’s just more footage of the shitty cartoon.

  • No_Good_Names_Ever

X had an ending already; all the stuff after is just Zero fanfiction that apparently is shit until right at the end of what has been put out like all Megaman games (except the Zero part).
Only ones that need a new game are Legends and ZX since they never got endings if Capcom doesn’t wanna make a new series.

  • No_Good_Names_Ever

Announcing development on Legends 3 is spitting in the face of Megaman Legends fans.

  • No_Good_Names_Ever

Capcom has been pissing off far too many people and shitting up too many of their franchises to have the power to make people forget their anger because there’s a new game not made ConMan.

  • Llama Adventure

Even another compilation game would make for a better celebration than the 25th Anniversary, where Nintendo had to celebrate it instead because Capcom couldn’t give less of a fuck.

  • TheOnceAndFutureKing
  • RPG

Hmm, Mega Man 11 would be cool as well! I would just love it though if Legends 3 was finally announced, as that has been a sequel that many MM fans have been asking for for years. All things considered, I think I will take just about any new mainline game from Capcom (as long as it is not for mobile devices).

  • Shattno

    Get ready to get disappointed

  • Shattno

I believe they had the best intentions but failed miserably at understanding what made Mega Man great (Inafune was never a good game designer) and had no experience in UE.

  • Heresy Hammer

Playing Ace Attorney : Spirit Of Justice and I found this little gem.

    Getting old fast, man. Weak.

  • Lea Pastillaroja

the last time megaman had an aniversary
crapcom made just some shovelware cellphone megaman game whose only saving grace was the music
meanwhile a bounch of kickstarter megaman fanboys made Shovel Knight and are swimming in shekkels…
and there was also another kickstarter but the least we talk about it the better

  • Wanderer

I’d like to give Inafune the benefit of the doubt, but didn’t he get 5 million dollars off Kikestarter and then turn in a garbage product that looks like it was outsourced to third-world coders and artists? There is no way MN9 cost the full 5 mil to make. If it wasn’t a scam from the start he nevertheless still ripped fans off in the end.

  • Miguel Angel Opazo Arancibia

They lost my trust when they cancelled Megaman Legends 3 over a petty feud with Inafune.

  • Shattno

I think the reason the game looks like shit is because it’s made by people with no prior experience making games in UE. It was a mistake to let Inti Creates do the development, their previous games are good, but going from making sprite based 2D games to making a polygon based 2.5D game in a new engine was apparently too much for them, as the result speak for itself. I think it’s really hard to say how much the game cost to make and why without looking at the financial records, but speaking from experience, software development can become extremely expensive very fast. It also depends on where you draw the line, obviously one doesn’t want to work for free, but how much must one pay oneself for it to become scam?

I think everyone had good intentions, but it all went out of hand. On the whole I guess it’s at least good to have a cautionary tale so people think twice before throwing their money at crowdfunded projects.

  • orbo

No doubt that they didn’t use all the money on the game.
I don’t think there’s any official statement about it, but it’s fairly obvious that he used some of it on the show that never took off and in general try to turn the MN9 project into some big, popular IP.

Unfortunately for him the only thing MN9 is popular for is its mediocrity and project drama.

  • TheOnceAndFutureKing

You’re giving them too much of the benefit of the doubt. With all the money they made, there is no reason why they couldn’t hire someone experienced with UE to make something as relatively simple as a side scrolling shooter.

  • Shattno

Maybe I am, I don’t know. Here’s my theory: They hired Inti Creates based on their prior games, because the game was meant to be 2D (in which case Inti Creates could have pulled it off), but with all that extra kickstarter money they got they had to follow up on the promise to release on a bunch of different platforms, forcing them to chose UE (which does not do 2D well) because it’s platform agnostic (cooking your own multi platform engine would be out of the scope). So they were essentially trapped with an engine and a studio inexperienced with that engine. Could they have made different choices? Yes. Should they have? Absolutely! But that’s the crux of it, the entire project is plagued with terrible mismanagement, completely failing to see how hard it is to pull off something like that. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, Inafune is a good illustrator, a sub par producer and a terrible game designer.

  • Nope Naw

The Zero games are some of the best in the franchise, what are you on about?

  • Person Man

Maybe he’s only talking about the story. Even then, they play fantastic.

  • No_Good_Names_Ever

Not the Zero games, the later X games where it starts being more about Zero than X.
