Capcom Working on New Games for Nintendo Switch, Rumor Points to New Ace Attorney Game and Compilation Releases

Capcom has confirmed they’re working on more new titles for the Nintendo Switch.

The news comes via an interview with company president and COO Haruhiro Tsujimoto and Jiji (via WSJ), where the company boss confirmed they’re developing new games for the hybrid console, including new Ace Attorney titles.

All the aforementioned games are set to be released after April of next year. Now, a new rumor (via Kotaku UK) is pointing to those very said games including two new compilations set to release between April 2018 and October 2018.

The first compilation includes the first three Ace Attorney games, the latter includes Ace Attorney four through six.

Finally, the third game is reportedly an entirely new entry within the series, which is set for a simultaneous worldwide release on Switch and smartphones in late 2018. The game will see Phoenix Wright returning as the protagonist, and will include five cases to solve at launch.

As with any rumor (especially considering this particular source) please take this with a grain of salt. Either way, it’s wonderful to hear Capcom is working on more games for the Switch. What Capcom titles would you like to see on the Switch? Sound off in the comments below!

Would rather have a Great Ace Attorney Compilation on switch.

    In AMERICA this time.
Wait it’s Capcom, they hate their fans my bad.

  • five cases to solve at launch.

Well, that doesn’t sound very consumer-friendly.

  • No_Good_Names_Ever

Well now we know who might be next to be fucked up.

“What Capcom titles would you like to see on the Switch?”
Anything other than nothing is a clear sign of a suicidal fan.

Reminder that Laura Kate Dale works for Kotaku.

    Stop reporting on rumors.

Disregard that there is another source though?

Will prolly be like 6 in total.

  • I was thinking along the lines of “5 with a season pass for two more”.

  • Himegami Aisa

The standard for mainline games on the 3DS was 5 plus a DLC case that’s pretty take-it-or-leave-it and unconnected to the overarching story. I can’t imagine they’d change it up too much from there.

Knowing Capcom it’s more likely you pay for the season pass to access the menu that allows you to buy loot boxes that contain clues! lol

Ace Attorney games are the only reason to postpone Capcom’s death

I hope that this time they have a physical release planed

  • Tubsiwub

Physically release all of the old ones physically so I can actually play them, thanks.

  • Shiggy Diggy Doo

AA1 through Apollo Justice still has physical prints out for less than 20 bucks each.

  • RichardGristle

And REmakes, though those are going to run out eventually.

  • No_Good_Names_Ever

Capcom has a terrible track record of putting out games that don’t deservedly piss off fans from the company being lazy and money hungry.

That’s why anyone wanting a new game in a series they like is suicidal.

Despite the fact that Ace Attorney managed to avoid the Capcom Bullshit until this point?

  • SullenSamurai

I used to love the Ace Attorney franchise back in the mid-to-late-2000s, but the combination of Capcom’s selective interest in localizing titles and older-me simply having a much harder time accepting how radically altered everything was during localization hobbled my passion. Trying to pretend these games take place in “California” when they’re some of the most Japanese games imaginable just became far too big a leap for me. And barring that, there’s always a significant chance that, when asked about the localization of a certain entry, Capcom will turn their back to you, tell you they’re “not in the mood”, and complain about a headache.

  • No_Good_Names_Ever

That suffered from a different kind of bullshit but it’s only a matter of time at the rate they’re going.

  • Evja

Hopefully the new AA won’t be just on the switch, as I don’t wanna play other switch titles.
