Deadly Premonition Returns.. via a Crowdfunded Board Game

Deadly Premonition is one of those polarizing yet cult-classic games from ingenious creator Hidetaka ‘Swery65’ Suehiro. Now we’ve learned the hard-boiled detective-thriller is making a return, via Deadly Premonition: The Board Game, a card-based board game adaptation of the classic Twin Peaks-inspired game.

Rising Star Games are currently asking for money on Kickstarter with a campaign video featuring Swery himself (which you can view above). However, he isn’t directly developing the game, and only supervising it “in order to continue the Deadly Premonition world.”

On the Kickstarter page, Rising Star describes the board game, saying:

In Deadly Premonition: The Board Game you and your fellow detectives must take on the task of protecting the innocent, incriminating the guilty and work out who might not be who they say they are. With a hidden killer amongst the detectives, the race is on to identify a suspect as an accomplice in order track down the true killer.

If you’re interested in the project, backers will be able to get the board game for 30$. As of writing, the project has about 20% of its 50k goal.

A while back i emailed the dev about patching the PC version of DP to fix all the bugs and crashes. He actually responded, and while he was enthusiastic to help, he simply said the studio is small and doesnt have the funds and manpower to do that. I even suggested to use Kickstarter to raise money for it. He said thanks but it would probably make the company look bad asking for money.

On one side of the board, Swery is not actually leading the project, I dont trust these guys one bit and the thing looks generally awful.
Ooooon the other side though, I really wanna help Swery get some funding for other projects.
    Big dilemma :/
