Bandai Namco is publishing an interesting looking survival simulator that takes place in a post-apocalyptic world plagued by perpetual winter and snow. Titled simply Impact Winter, the new game is coming to PC via Steam and has some unique mechanics to it.

Announced back in 2015, the survival game is now set for a release on May 23rd. Featured above, you can view the latest trailer for the game, which gives a nice overview of the squad-based mechanics, environments, and more. It’s worth pointing out the game’s title is literally the scientific term used for a hypothetical, prolonged winter due to an asteroid striking Earth.

In the game, you play as Jacob Soloman after he stumbles upon a mostly-buried church filled with optimistic survivors of the apocalypse. Your goal is to survive for 30 days and secure your survival, until help survives. You’ll have to provide for your team and utilize everyone’s skills in order to survive the bitter cold.

Here’s a breakdown on the game, via its Steam Page:

“In 30 days, help is coming…”

A mysterious radio transmission claims that help is inbound. You are Jacob Solomon: leader of a makeshift team trying to survive the aftermath of a devastating asteroid collision. The world you once knew is no more – buried deep beneath the constant snowfall. Your goal: keep your companions alive until rescue.

Key Features:

  • Rescue-minus 30 days:
Rediscover the survival genre: strategize in a bid to lower the Rescue Timer.
  • Lead your team to survival:
Provide for your team and unite your skills in a freezing struggle for life.
  • An immersive and unpredictably hostile world:
Outlast a hazardous winter brought to life by a unique artistic direction.

Impact Winter is available for pre-purchase on Steam, for $19.99. If you pre-purchase the game, you’ll get a copy of the soundtrack, which is composed by Mitch Murder.
