Veteran Square Enix Art Director Isamu Kamikokuryo Resigns

Isamu Kamikokuryo, the art director on numerous Final Fantasy games, has resigned from Square Enix.

The news comes via a tweet the creator posted, in which he confirmed his departure from the company after working there for a little over 18 years.

Kamikokuryo started working at the company back in 1999, beginning with concept art for Final Fantasy X. His last game at the company was Final Fantasy XV, to which he served as art director. He thanked Square Enix for giving him so many opportunities to both work with great people, as well as deploy his skills.

A second tweet from the creator has him expressing a bit of reluctance, however Kamikokuryo said ultimately he wants to work on something new from here on out. He expressed a desire to start writing again, alongside doing freelance art and even editing style work.

Finally, Kamikokuryo expressed deep thanks to all his fans who supported his artwork for so many years.
