Kingdom Hearts: Union χ Announced, Set for Worldwide Launch

Square Enix has announced Kingdom Hearts: Union χ, a newly updated version to Kingdom Hearts: Unchained χ.

The game will launch in Japan sometime later this month, and it’s also set for a worldwide release sometime next month. The new update brings a “Union Cross” mode where up to six players can fight enemies together in multiplayer quests. There’s also new story chapters, as well as a “must play” origin story.

Featured above, you can view a teaser video for the coming update.

You can pre-register for the game over on its official website. To commemorate the relaunch and the one-year anniversary of the original game’s release, players will also receive in-game presents by logging in after the update.

If you’re at PAX East this weekend, stop by the Square Enix booth to get the first hands-on look at the game. You’ll also be able to get special buttons and a poster from series illustrator  Tetsuya Nomura, while supplies last.

    Kingdom Hearts 3 Never

  • OSad

Square sure loves “remixing” games in this franchise. Wish they’d spend time actually developing their flagship title instead of putting more versions of KHII out on the market.

  • tccboss

And I thought capcom had a problem counting to three.

  • wavemotioncannon

I think we are all just past the point of caring about this franchise. It goes absolutely nowhere.

  • 100% noob

Kingdom Hearts III when? But at this point I might as well just wait for Kingdom Hearts III.5 or III.8.5

  • Uncle Ocelot

While III is taking it’s time, I’m not sure that a few remasters and mobile games are taking that much away from it’s development. The VII Remake is probably a much bigger factor in that.

  • No_Good_Names_Ever

I wouldn’t put it past both with how mismanaged Square is.

  • VLOCKUP

Kingdom Hearts has become even bigger joke than Street Fighter games.

  • Michael J Hawk

oh boy I can’t wait for the remix to KH3

Kingdom Hearts π: this time kingdom hearts is made out of darkness instead of light but we’re just kidding it’s actually light that looks like darkness made of darkness and not light.

  • Eden

After seeing how good Zelda turned out, I’m willing to wait for KH3.

  • Malascus

There’ll be a extra kh3 version with added content after it’s first release for sure. But japan only.

Then it’ll get ported to the west.

BUT THEN another version will be released in japan with even more content, that we won’t get.

This isn’t a joke by the way, this happened with birth by sleep.

    another origin story

  • John Smith.

…So yeah, when is this series going to publish its last part? It’s been fifth-teen years since they started this series and barely any answers have been freaking provided doing those years!

  • Himegami Aisa

This is what happens when you let Nomura do as he pleases for a dozen fucking games. I love TWEWY but it’s obvious he needs to be put on a leash or something.

  • John Smith.

I think this is what happens when you let anyone have free reign on anything.

  • Fenrir007

At this point, I need a fucking infograph detailing all the games, remakes and how they are all linked if I ever plan to get into this series.

  • TylorW

    You’re thinking Valve, dude.

  • Josh

The best thing to do is to not get into the series at all.

  • ProxyDoug

If they had more games like KHII, that wouldn’t be such a problem but everything is KH 0.6 with card mechanics, or dice, or slots and the story is a dream or an event that changes nothing in the grand scheme of things.

  • Fenrir007

    A sage advice.
