First Look at Telltale’s Guardians of the Galaxy Game

Telltale Games and Marvel Entertainment have given us the first look at their latest movie to game adaptation, Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series.

The game features all the iconic yet reluctant heroes: Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Rocket, and Groot. The first screenshots for the game were revealed, which you can view above, as well as below:

Here’s a brief description, via Telltale:

In the wake of an epic battle, the Guardians discover an artifact of unspeakable power. Each of them has a reason to desire this relic, as does a ruthless enemy who is the last of her kind, and who will stop at nothing to tear it from their hands.

From Earth to the Milano to Knowhere and beyond, and set to the beat of awesome music, you wear the rocket-powered boots of Star-Lord in an original Guardians adventure, where your decisions and actions drive the story you experience.

If you’re attending PAX East this coming weekend, on March 10th at 6pm in the Albatross Theater, the team from Telltale Games as well as Marvel Games Creative Director, Bill Rosemann, will host a panel to discuss the game’s development. This will also be livestreamed on Twitch.

Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series slated to release this spring across PC, Mobile, and consoles.

Oh man, this is gonna sell so many funko pop figures!

  • OldPalpy

I this this supposed to take place in the universe of the films or is it another case of anything Guardians related having to look just like the films?

  • Zufield

    Wanna know the sad part?

You’re probably right about that, and not even in a “ha ha funny” way.

  • catazxy

Oh boy, why would you hide his face under a mask in all the pics? Also, is that supposed to be Gamora?

  • Mr0303

This could be good, but I’d rather wait for the whole game to come out.

  • wavemotioncannon

I know, I just can’t stand the mvcu, dccu or any other banter filled watered down pop culture adaptation.
And funkos killed an entire artform. Its all such a shitfest.

  • wavemotioncannon

They will all be assimilated, even marvel vs capcom got blandified to match up with the movies.

  • Guest

Best guess is they don’t have the rights to his likeness and don’t want to show that in advertisements.

  • sanic

“where your decisions and actions drive the story you experience.”

In every damn telltale game your choices are just a forked road that merges a couple feet further.

At least Captain Marvel doesn’t look like a guy lol

  • Lea Pastillaroja

I can’t wait to see the QTE ridden vidual novel on youtube, i’d be inclined to play thorugh it if it didn’t have brain dead puzzles or if any of the choices made during the game actually afected the endindg in some meaningfull way

  • ProxyDoug

That lighting bothers me for some reason, I wish hey had kept to the comic book look for this one.

  • I would have liked this more if they didn’t look like the gah-damn f’n MCU versions.

  • AnarKreig

Gamora and Drax look waaay off.

  • AnarKreig

It have to say, the art style is reminiscent of the garbage that is SWTOR.

  • InfectedAI

What ’bout dem Nendoroids? What ye think o’ them mate?

  • wavemotioncannon

Nendoroids are great. They are usually really respectful to the source material. What I meant by killing an artform was that the overabundance of Funko shattered the designer toy art movement just as it was getting mainstream acceptance.
Vinyl designer toys had come a long way, and were about to be seen as worthy of respect as any other kind of design, but then Funko happened and we were all drowning in these cheap dot eyed cashgrabs. So most designers went underground again.
