Worldwide Super Mario Run Downloads Exceed 40 Million in 4 Days

Despite only being available for iOS devices, Nintendo has announced that worldwide downloads for Super Mario Run have exceeded 40 million.

The game launched for iOS devices back on December 15th and broke 40 million downloads in only four days. This also makes it the highest-ranking free game in the App Store across 140 countries/regions, as well as one of the top 10 highest-earning games in the App Store.

An Android release for Super Mario Run is planned, however it’s not happening until next year.

Do the downloads count the trial version?

  • Deathtone

Investors upset. They wanted it to do better. Stock drops 20%

    Making mobile great again.

But seriously, it’s interesting to see the ‘phones are KILLING NINTENDO!’ crowd refuse to see how these pre established mobile developers can’t compete with them in the long run.

  • CommanderZx2

The download of the free version only lets you play for a short span of time. I have to wonder how much of that 40 million went ahead and paid the $9.99 to continue playing it after the free demo ended.

  • Tyrone Jackson

I think they mean as a relevant game company. Nintendo killed themselves long ago in that regard.

  • Jumanji Joe

This is why we need to round up everyone in the casual market and put them in a camp.

  • Travis Touchdown

    They’re still leading the industry.

I’d say a decent amount considering how much revenue Pokemon Go made.

  • LaserCatsAreAwesome

Which is why they had to completely abandon what they were doing with their console direction twice in under a decade. Go get triggered by Sean Malstrom’s blog, oh I’m sure you’ll blow a load at first when you think he’s just another cheerleader drone but you’ll soon be literally shaking at how he tears into Nintendo’s scared cows.

  • Uncle Ocelot

They’d probably be disappointed anyway unless there were microtransactions.

  • Kiryu

    40 mil,that’s alot of idiots.

  • Travis Touchdown

And? Nintendo has consistently found great success in shaking things up. Switch is no different.

And do you know anything about me? I hate Malstrom more than anyone else out there.

  • Travis Touchdown

Th game is actually pretty complex and fun.

  • Uncle Slick

    That’s sane.

  • Uncle Slick

    That’s a lot of people.

Too bad they probably didn’t know about the price tag inside.

  • orbo

I heard one of them literally suggested something like charging the player fifty cents for picking up a mushroom.
I believe it too, bunch of greedy asses with nothing but money on their mind, you know they’ve never touched a video game ever.

40 mil idiots who always involved in argument of iOS vs Android.

  • tccboss

Watch this craze die down in a month.

  • EroBotan

i never understand why people like mario, he’s a middle age man way past his prime, not too mention he has big moustache too!

  • Funtime Happysnacks

They are reporting download numbers rather than actual game sales? The game costs money. “40 million downloads” means 40 million people who may have been expecting the whole game to be free, since it is a “”free”” app.

I think all the negative reviews on the store speak for themselves though.

  • Funtime Happysnacks

Mario is only 26 years old. Confirmed by both SSB Melee and Shiggy himself.

  • Funtime Happysnacks

That comparison makes no sense because GO had microtransactions. Also, take a look at google trending for Pokemon Go around launch. It looks like the world’s tallest rollercoaster! (with a sharp dip almost immediately after)

  • Funtime Happysnacks

Why does anyone still reply to this guy? Nichegamer I love you but I don’t think a single person would miss this one guy. For reals.

  • Funtime Happysnacks

This is total. So most played the free levels and then left when forced to pay.

  • FreshSnug

Whether Nintendo has found great success or not, as long as you can agree they’re bloody awful no one really cares.

  • FreshSnug

Gee who could have seen this coming? Nintendo has such a shit fanbase.

  • EroBotan

wow, 26 years old and he already look like that o.o; .. now i begin to feel sorry for him.

  • le master trole

normies drop things just as fast as they pick them up

  • le master trole

Banning is for fags. I think he’s funny.

You can always hide him if you want.
