NieR: Automata Gets Western Playable Demo on December 22

People waiting for the new NieR: Automata can get their hand on a demo December 22nd.

Square Enix confirmed the release of the DEMO 120161128, a demo for the game made to show off its action gameplay. While the demo won’t carry over into the main game, it’ll give you an idea of what’s to come.

NieR: Automata will be releasing in America on March 7th. A PC release is also planned for 2017, but no specific date has been announced. In case you missed it, you should read up on the game’s various packages, most especially its swanky limited edition.

That’s great. I won’t have to go to my Japanese account to get it. Platinum’s recent record has been less than stellar, so the combat could sell me on this game.

  • lucben999

I don’t expect this to be a typical Platinum game in terms of combat, their main concern seems to be fixing the mediocre gameplay of the first Nier, but IMO the main appeal of the game would remain its world, story and general weirdness.

  • Brownninja97 .

as much as i want to like this game i have nightmares due to the hellish pushdown automata i got in my last comp sci coursework.

  • Mr0303

I wasn’t impressed with those in the first Nier (granted I didn’t play too much of it), so the main draw for me is the combat.

  • PixelBuff

Cool, thought this is basically a blind buy for me, don’t think I need to jump on the demo. Can’t wait.

  • Sweet!

  • 2501

It’s honestly exciting to me that a Yoko Taro game would finally have some functioning gameplay.

  • DrearierSpider

DOOM, Dying Light, RE7 and NieR just to name a few. Glad to see demos are finally making a comeback.

  • Madbrainbox

    Probably not right now.

  • Dang it. I want to see what can run it before actually buying it.

  • OSad

I hope so, that’s one close release date too.

  • Madbrainbox

I’m sure they will have a demo for the PC version as well but I think they need to give us a release date first.

  • Will3316

Awesome! I can’t wait to play it.

  • True enough.

  • Still Here

If you notice though most of if not all of the shitty plat games that have come out recently have all been published by activision.

  • Nagato

I’m guessing Sony just paid them to shut up about the PC version being a thing until just before release, as they tend to do with games quite often.

  • Hiecchi

Anyone knows if we get the jap dub or only eng dub?

  • Chocolate ISISCream

Just be happy that you’re even getting a PC version, faggot.

  • F*** you

  • Chris Mendivil

Awesome. Taro can tell some of the best stories when he isn’t fixated on complaining about what other game devs do in their own games. And tge idea of Platinum adapting the gameplay into something more fun gets me hyped ^^

  • Just hope that it actually runs at 60 fps on the PS4. :-)

  • Chocolate ISISCream

    It will, dipshit.

  • Did the Last guardian run at 60fps kid? :)

  • Chocolate ISISCream

This is Platinum, nigger. They always fucking deliver 60 fps, and its native development platform is PS4. Just hope that your $5000 rig is strong enough stabilize at 60 fps with an unoptimized PC port.

  • Yeah no. check this out:

TMNT Mutants In Manhattan was locked at 30fps on all platforms. And seeing how the PS4 was too weak to play a PS3 game at 60fps I would say you need to be worried kid. And please don’t delete your comment and run away this time. :-)

  • Chocolate ISISCream

    >using licensed trash as an example
    Try again.

  • Who developed it kid? Besides Nier is not owned by Platinum either. You Sony Slaves never do any research and just speak with emotion instead of logic, just like cultist members.
