Deckbuilding Action RPG Sequel Hand of Fate 2 Announced, Coming in 2017

Defiant Development has officially announced Hand of Fate 2 for PC, Mac, and Linux.

The card-dealing action-RPG hybrid of sorts will be launching sometime next year. Featured above, you can view the game’s announcement teaser trailer.

“Hand of Fate demanded players prepare themselves for any possible outcome with each overturned card,” said Defiant Development director Morgan Jaffit. “With the new mechanics we’ve added into Hand of Fate 2, even players who mastered the first game will once again be challenged by the luck of the draw.”

Fans can expect the game to play much like the first game, which is a mix of third-person, real time action RPG combat laden with card-based mechanics. The game has you playing as a new heroine 100 years after the events of the original game, with the original protagonist acting as the main antagonist in the sequel.

Chief among the new additions are a new map-based meta-game alongside companions for your adventures. The new support companions can aid the player in combat, add new options in the RPG scenarios, and even see their own storylines.

There will also be new win conditions outside the typical defeat all enemies or force your opponent to run out of cards. Some of these include saving up enough gold, defending from goblins for a set period of time, and even surviving a 10-level dungeon. There’s also new equipment and combat features, with options like two-handed weapons, or dual-wielding being possible now.
