Chucklefish has announced the final, official PC and Mac release for Starbound is actually pretty close.

The sci-fi, 2D sandbox adventure game has been in open development for years, with its initial release dating back to December of 2013. Now, the full release, version 1.0 is reportedly “close,” according to the developer.

The game will receive quite a few changes and new features the full release, with the planet biomes getting an overhaul, alongside new dungeons, sidequests, improvements to crafting, and more. You should read the entire developer blog post, it goes over quite a bit.

It remains to be seen when the PlayStation 4 and PS Vita versions of the game will come, or if they’re even in development currently, however we’ve reached out to Chucklefish for an update.
