Arc System Works have announced in the latest Famitsu (via Famitsu, Hachima) that Downtown Nekketsu Monogatari SP (River City Ransom SP) is in development for the Nintendo 3DS.

The game was developed to celebrate the Kunio-kun series, which launched back in 1986 for Japanese arcades with Nekketsu Kōha Kunio-kun (Editor’s note: westerners knew the game as Renegade).

River City Ransom SP will have new combos, techniques, events, locations, and even mechanics/systems in comparison to the arcade/Nintendo Entertainment System games.

Development is reportedly 65% complete, and River City Ransom SP is set to launch on April 28th of next year.
