[UPDATE on April 10th, 2015]
We’ve gotten a clarification for Twitch’s stance towards Senran Kagura: Estival Versus. Apparently, users are allowed to stream the game, but the moment “sexually explicit” acts or content are showcased, they are grounds to have your stream closed, or your account banned.
A Twitch representative gave the details:
“Senran Kagura: Estival Versus is permitted for streaming, but you still must adhere to our Rules of Conduct when doing so. Per our rules regarding sexually explicit acts or content, the sexually suggestive scenes in this game should not be the focus of your stream.”
[ORIGINAL STORY]
We’ve learned (via KotakuinAction) that Twitch has banned the streaming of Senran Kagura: Estival Versus on their streaming network.
Reports of users getting their Twitch streams randomly shut down had been coming out, prompting a Reddit user to go to Twitch directly. When asked whether or not Estival Versus could be streamed on their platform, Twitch representative Hassan Bokhari replied:
“No, this game would not be allowed on our platform, sorry.”
When pressed further, the representative said:
“Our rules of conduct are pretty cut and dry. We do not allow games of this nature on our platform. If you would like to look for other streaming platforms to stream these types of visual novels that have adult content, then please feel free.
This is not something we will allow on our service.”
So there you have it—apparently Senran Kagura: Estival Versus is a visual novel, and it has been deemed completely inappropriate for Twitch.
