Amulets & Armor: Now Free For Download

With indie games going ironically retro and people pining away for the classic RPGs of our youth, it should be mentioned that one of the most obscure games of the 90’s is now totally free.

Released in 1997 and selling barely a hundred or so copies, Amulets & Armor gained quite a following on abandonware websites and through youtube’s Let’s Play community. Thanks to some legal wrangling of the rights back to the original programmers, the game is now being updated and worked on. An enhanced Open GL port is being talked about on their website, though you can still download a classic DOS or Windows executable if you don’t want to wait for a better looking version.

As someone who once played this game on the old “Home of the Underdogs” abandonware website 14 years ago, this bit of news really brought back some good memories. If you want to see what retro looked like back when it was considered state of the art, this game is a must-play.
