You Can Now Purchase Games via Nintendo’s Website & Send Them to Your Console

While Playstation and Xbox owners have been able to purchase games on their respective parent company’s website, only to download them onto their consoles later, Nintendo fans haven’t been able to do that – until now.

If you head on over to the new games page on Nintendo’s website, you can browse all of their current and upcoming releases. Take the Super Smash Bros. 3DS game page for example, where you have the option to purchase the game directly from their website.

After you’ve purchased a game, you can then get the download code for it via your registered email account, or you can have the game’s install sent to your Wii U or 3DS, providing either of them are in Sleep Mode/connected to the internet.

It’s clear that this option is unfortunately only available for North American Nintendo fans, but you can expect this to become a standard across all regions in the future.
