Scooby-Doo anime series Yokoso Scooby-Doo! announced

Tubi and Warner Bros. have announced Yokoso Scooby-Doo!, a new anime series based on the beloved cartoon series.

The new anime series is being produced by OLM (Pokemon, Berserk, Yo-Kai Watch) and will be streamed exclusively on Tubi in the United States and on Cartoon Network internationally. Itsuro Kawasaki will direct and Francisco Paredes will co-produce.

The above key visual was revealed (via THR) for Yokoso Scooby-Doo!, confirming both Shaggy and Scooby are returning and will be voiced by returning actors Frank Welker and Matthew Lillard. They’re joined by the magical girl Yume and the gadget whiz Takumi on the “ultimate food adventure” in Japan.

The new series is the first official anime series for Scooby-Doo while the 4 direct-to-video movies produced by anime studio Mook Animation in the late 90s/early 00s could be counted as anime film (though they were still done with a more traditional Scooby-Doo style).

While traveling in Japan both Scooby and Shaggy “unwittingly unleash hundreds of mythical monsters that are causing trouble across the country” but get help from Scooby’s uncle, Daisuke-Doo, alongside the aforementioned newcomers. Series mainstays Fred, Daphne, and Velma aren’t confirmed to appear.

Netflix also has a live-action film planned called Scooby-Doo: Origins, which just began filming this year in April.

“Welcome to Mystery Inc., Tubi,” said Sam Register, president of Warner Bros. Animation, Cartoon Network Studios and Hanna-Barbera Studios Europe. “We’re excited to partner on this next chapter as we push the Scooby-Doo franchise forward with its first-ever original anime series. Alongside the amazing artists at OLM, we’ll unmask a new batch of mysteries, signature hijinks, and — of course — plenty of Scooby Snacks, all brought to life through the dynamic artistry of anime.”

“Scooby-Doo is one of the most beloved franchises in entertainment, and Yokoso Scooby-Doo! lets us reinvent it in a way fans haven’t seen before,” said Tubi chief content officer Adam Lewinson. “By bringing Scooby and Shaggy into a bold anime world set in Japan, we’re connecting with global fandoms and delivering the kind of fun, chaotic mystery that travels across generations. As we grow our animation slate, this is exactly our brand of fan-first storytelling — familiar, surprising, and unmistakably Tubi.”
