Valkyrie Drive: Bhikkhuni DLC, PlayStation VR Modes Now Available for Senran Kagura: Peach Beach Splash in the West

XSEED Games and Marvelous have updated Senran Kagura: Peach Beach Splash to version 1.03 in North America and Europe, bringing a host of new content to the wet-and-wild third-person shooter.

The new free update brings with it a PlayStation VR support so you can “get up close and personal” with the various ladies in the game, in the “Dressing Room” mode. There are two new modes: Character Viewer where you can dress up your favorite shinobi in any costumes and accessories, as well as display them in the Diorama mode with up to three characters at once.

Alongside the free VR update is the Valkyrie Drive: Bhikkhuni-themed downloadable content, which adds Rinka Kagurazaka and Ranka Kagurazaka from the weaponized lesbian action game, as well as the New Paradise Swimsuits “Otohime” and “Lorelei,” and various other accessories.

Featured above, you can view a new trailer showcasing the new Valkyrie Drive: Bhikkhuni content. You can buy them separately or in a $10 bundle.

Senran Kagura: Peach Beach Splash is now available for PlayStation 4, worldwide. In case you missed it, you can find our review for the game here (we highly recommend it!).

How about adding some more damn offline gamplay modes so i actually have a reason to play this game (and buy the DLC for that matter).

VR pervs everywhere rejoice! (Wish I had VR.)

The Valkyrie Drive girls fit pretty well with the rest of the cast and are fully operational unlike the DOA or the Ikki Tousen broads.

The VR mode is pretty cool, but the camera movement is a bit of a pain.

What exactly do you want them to add? Every online mode you can play offline with bots.

Ditto. I don’t know if Yumi in Shinobi Refle is worthwhile, but Senran Kagura 2 added story chapters with the same great production values with one of the three not even being the typical SK gameplay. I think Valkyrie Drive had a Smash clone as a DLC as well. My guess is that they want people to all be online, so we won’t be so lucky… and I won’t be buying this any time soon.

I imagine the issue with the DOA and Ikkitousen characters was that the original rights owners might have not wanted their characters to be treated the same (in that specific instance). Perhaps it is a good reason for Marvelous to focus on their own characters.

  8. Mr0303
    December 5, 2017 at 5:57 pm

Yeah, that’s probably the reasoning, but this still means you are getting less value out of them.

Also it’s kind of ironic that the kiss functionality is not available for the Ikki Tousen characters, while there’s actual rape in the anime.

    December 5, 2017 at 6:12 pm

Right. It isn’t uncommon for manga or anime to go much further than Senran Kagura, but they are still touchy for whatever reason (rape is okay, kisses are gross). Sadly, not a case we (or even Marvelous) could make without losing the deal as much as it sucks.

I noticed you didn’t mention Super Sonico, is she like the regular SK cast?

  11. Mr0303
    December 5, 2017 at 6:16 pm

Forgot about her. You cant kiss her either and she can’t be stripped like the DOA girls. The Ikki Tousen characters can be stripped, but not kissed. The Marvelous characters work as expected.

What? All you have is story mode, side stories and V-road. And all those modes have fixed maps and enemy teams.

Survival mode is online only and you cant even use your own custom characters as ally’s. There is no offline skirmish mode for Capture the bra, queen of the hill, etc either.

Split screen VS mode would have been nice too.

Since all of the characters are especially similar in this game, run, jump, guns and melee move. I wouldn’t be surprised if the strip option was just dummied out and PC mods won’t need to try in the future. The kiss stuff, I imagine they didn’t record the dialogue for that so it would be missing a bit, but whatever. Thanks for the info.

It would have been somewhat forgivable if the online has had decent matchmaking. But the match making is terrible.
In ranked the gameplay mode and map is random so you cant even plan ahead on your loadout. Also no one plays non-ranked matches anymore. Not to mention how often the teams are stacked as hell so you get very one sided matches.

To make things worse, before patch 1.02 the match making was region locked making it almost impossible to get an online match going only 2 weeks after release…

You even change her hair either. I guess the headphones are really part of her skull.

    December 5, 2017 at 7:11 pm

I think I heard of a few of those issues from a review, but not about the region lock since it was an import review. Terrible foresight on their part and I don’t expect niche TPS games to be active (well more active than Battleborn) in general. What’s your take on the single player?

From what I’ve seen it is more ambitious than prior SK games as far as design goes.

  17. Mr0303
    December 5, 2017 at 7:19 pm

You access all these modes via the online menu, but you can still play against bots, but you are able to play alone with bots. I guess it would’ve been better if this was moved to be offline, but at least there’s still the option.

The story is surprisingly decent and it set itself up for the upcoming SK: Seven (complete with a teaser). Its kinda short but i did not mind. The story in SV and especially EV kinda dragged too much IMO so the faster paced story was a welcome change.

Gameplay itself is great. If you ever played EX Troopers, its very similar. Every gun has its uses and behavior and the game strongly relies on strategic positioning instead of mad aiming skills.
The skill cards also mix things up nicely but some are kinda OP while others are utterly useless.

My biggest gripe is the tedious card grinding to level your characters/weapons/skills. Which you NEED to do to tackle the higher difficulties. This goes double for going online because you will get destroyed without at least maxed out character and weapon.

And this is where the lack of variety in offline gameplay modes come in. All you can do is grind the same missions over and over for cards which gets old fast.

Its the kind of game that pisses me off the most because it could have been amazing due to the strong foundation in the core gamplay but due to the lack of stuff to do its just decent.

If you can get it for about 30 bucks, i’d say go for it. But the full 60 buck? Hell no.

    December 5, 2017 at 7:34 pm

Small correction. You can strip Sonico, but not kiss her.

  20. Mr0303
    December 5, 2017 at 7:34 pm

I never knew that. Her hair is even unchangeable while using it on other characters.

  21. DizzyGear
    December 5, 2017 at 7:38 pm

Yeah, all characters share the same body model excluding flat Mirai and normal form Ryobi. This includes Sonico’s body even though we all know Sonico has those signature killer hips in her official artwork. The same goes for Honoka who is known for her booty in DOA.

Kinda lazy but i guess it would cause clipping issues with costumes.

Oddly enough they did went the extra mile and recorded all the dialogue for the spoken menu’s, etc which is allot of friggin dialogue.

    December 5, 2017 at 7:43 pm

Sounds really promising, I still haven’t gotten to finishing SV (or playing EV) but seems that I won’t be able to avoid it before SK:Seven comes around. I could probably bare the unlocks if I really liked the game (Smash 4) and/or if the game was designed with a lot of things to do which could all be done alone offline (E.X. Troopers).

I think I’m probably going to wait another half decade but with the knowledge that the game isn’t bad. I’d be in more of a hurry if it released with all of the content on the disc/initial purchase rather than tripling the price for costumes. SV on PC aside from the BlazBlue PC releases learned this.

    December 5, 2017 at 7:44 pm

Bizarre, but I wasn’t expecting consistency with a third party addition to the cast.

  24. DizzyGear
    December 5, 2017 at 7:48 pm

Oh wow. They sure did a crappy job of making that clear.

But i assume its like survival where the bots can only have their default loadout so that they are practically worthless?

It also still have the problem you cant even access those modes without PS+.

  25. British_Otaku
    December 5, 2017 at 7:52 pm

I believe they also simplified the body types from Senran Kagura Burst to Senran Kagura 2 (though that was the first… only 3DS game to make Mirai properly flat). I suppose it is an okay trade off for costumes.

On voices, it doesn’t surprise me since it would take a very short time to write and record while the voice actors are still present. I even played a DS game (Bleach: Blade of Fate) which did the same for most (all?) playable characters for spoken menus. It isn’t especially common perhaps and I know Arc System Works charges an arm and leg for them, but they aren’t much trouble in comparison to battle voices or general dialogue (more takes, more strain, more writing effort).

  26. Mr0303
    December 5, 2017 at 7:55 pm

Yeah, the bots have the default loadout and level, but at least it’s there. It would be nice if you were able to customise the bots including the level and loadout.

Yeah the DLC is overpriced as hell. I can get the collaboration characters as DLC but charging 15 bucks for the awakened versions of Asuka, Yumi and Homura? Fuck that noise.
Another thing that irked was how the whole wet costumes was one of the selling points but a good chunk of them are DLC. Real classy…
Oh yeah, you also have DLC skill card packs that are of course OP as hell.

I sure the game will be ported to PC sooner or later. Hopefully with all DLC included and no region lock on the online mode.
Better yet it prolly wont take long for someone to create a save editor to skip the card grind. lol

EX Troopers online was pretty good too. Minus the obvious lag. Such a crime we never got that game. If they ever translate and port and it to PC i’d buy it again in a heartbeat.

Well there’s no shortage of Sonico scale figures with cast off functionality so it would be kinda stupid if you could not at least knock off her bikini.

I forgot that the PlayStation titles started that trash. Making us pay for characters we already bought or expected from prior ones. SV tried to sell Daidouji (who was unlockable in the first game) and Rin (who was unlockable in the Burst version of the first game).

I wouldn’t bet on PBS releasing with all DLC (or any DLC) included. They only did it for SV which was their first PC release of that Takaki games. It isn’t lootboxes, but reselling DLC which was already done and localised has the same vibe.

I’d be all over E.X. Troopers on other platforms just for the single player(Somebody please mod a hard mode in!), but I did enjoy my time with online and wish I found some people to play local multiplayer with. I have the PS3 and 3DS versions.

  30. DizzyGear
    December 5, 2017 at 8:33 pm

Kinda funny how Capcom claimed they could not localize it due to some text problem but somehow later tweeted that if we all showed enough interest they might localize it after all. Which they never did because people were fed up with begging and Capcom’s bullshit in general.

I have the PS3 version and might be down for a few games but i’d need to hook up my PS3 again. …And figure out how the game works again with my small understanding of Japanese.

indeed, specially since both series were made by Takaki.

Personally, instead of DoA and Ikkitousen, I really wish they’d make a crossover with Queen’s Blade. (granted, QB is medieval while all the other series are modern era but if Darth Vader can be in Soul Calibur, then why not?)

I get that they need a stock body with variant proportions but I wish they used one with a wider range of options (like, there’s plenty of games out there with create-a-character option that allows for variants in height and thickness without making the costumes look wierd).

They should try pushing to make the character models closer to the artwork this is specially noticable in cases like Daidouji. (those painted-on abs are a bit sad)

yeah, to me the worst part is the randomization of ranked, specially because the loadouts really make or break it in certain points. thankfully, I managed to meet a group of friends online to set up matches.

at the very least, the bots in survival are pretty useful, I manged to clear all survival waves thanks to them, if nothing else, they always soak you up to get you to infinite ammo.
