SteelSeries Arctis 7+ Wireless Headphones Review

Starting up our SteelSeries Arctis 7+ Wireless Headphones review, they really follow in the footsteps of the previous version, the Arctis 7P+ Wireless headphones. The 7+ packs almost everything the predecessor does. While there are some distinguishable differences from appearance alone oddly enough, there are a lot of things this shares in common with the 7P+. Ultimately, these headphones can be used anywhere and transferred to anything you wish to use them on for the most part. Here’s our SteelSeries Arctis 7+ wireless headphones review:

SteelSeries Arctis 7+ Wireless Headphones
Manufacturer: SteelSeries
MSRP: $199.99 USD

Like the aforementioned 7P+ wireless headphones before it, this pair also includes the same USB-C dongle and cable to connect seamlessly to your devices that support it. One thing that carries over is the lack of iPhone support due to it’s use of Lightning as opposed to the more commonly used USB-C.

Charging is effective and quick, same as before with a 15 minute charge giving you hours use. Another positive is that if you have existing cables, like the ChatMix Dial that comes with Arctis 5 headsets, you can still use that with this. However, if you use PC, you can set up this same effect via the SteelSeries GG app with Sonar.

Since the PlayStation Tempest 3D Audio was removed, you won’t be able to utilize that like you could on the 7P+ variant. SteelSeries GG provides Sonar which allows you to not only use a ChatMix Dial directly on the headphones themselves, but it also allows for 7.1 Surround Sound to help with immersiveness.

I’ve used it for many different games that I’ve reviewed and they need no tweaking when it comes to sound out of the box. The microphone quality is just like the other headsets, so you will be able to tell a difference versus something like a condenser mic still. These bad boys are also still built to last because of the premium steel top with ski band that are signature for the SteelSeries brand.

Besides the microphone not being a bit better, especially for the price point, I don’t have many other gripes besides the obvious. This is a 2.4GHz headset, so it’s direct connection and low latency are perfect, but the exclusion of Bluetooth as an option will still leave me asking for that functionality. It would be excellent to have so it can connect to things that may only use Bluetooth, but that’s the biggest downside I could find.

You can wear the SteelSeries Arctis 7+ wireless headphones for hours comfortably, you can still hear everything crystal clear, and there is still a ton of battery power to use in one sitting. With the SteelSeries Arctis 7+ comfort, usability, and sound came first and it shows with it’s best foot forward.

The only improvements I’d personally like with a successor headset is the option for Bluetooth and maybe RGB but I think at this point I think I may have enough lights in things. With that also being said the Arctis 7+ is compatible with the new Steam Deck, if you were lucky enough to get one.
