SteelSeries Apex 7 TKL Ghost Edition Keyboard Review

SteelSeries Apex 7 TKL Ghost Edition Keyboard Review

Starting off our SteelSeries Apex 7 TKL Ghost Edition Keyboard review, my main keyboard had deteriorating keys so I was looking for something a bit different. The keyboard ended up being this ten keyless keyboard with some particular new features I’m not used to, which I’ll dig into.

SteelSeries has never come up in my conversations about keyboards, but usually in headsets – so I was really curious if they’re good at hardware for your digits too. What are the positives and the negatives? Read on in our review!

Manufacturer: SteelSeries
MSRP: $149.99 USD

One the first things about this keyboard, it takes two USB ports connecting to your PC. What may seem like a downside is actually offset because of the included USB port located on the back near the ESC key. It’s handy and makes up for the lost additional USB port.

Besides the RGB that we’ve all come to enjoy from everything on our desks, this includes a small OLED display that can display gaming profiles, notifications from Discord, or any other information you choose. You can change it to feature an animated gif or a static image that is auto-sized. It takes customization to the next level and it’s one of my favorite features of the keyboard, or any keyboard.

Additionally, there is a detachable, and oddly comfortable, soft touch magnetic wrist rest that has a texture that will save your wrists. If you’d rather do without it, you can, just pull it off.

If you do use the rest, it grips your wrists but doesn’t make them stick. Coupled with the typing and gaming you will be doing, it has tappy kinds of keys but not clicky so it will stay fairly quiet while in Discord calls.

I have very little in the way of negatives with our SteelSeries Apex 7 TKL Ghost Edition Keyboard review, if any. I think the biggest issue that I’m used to is having the keypad on the right hand side. I know, it’s in the name “TKL” but it’s one of the only things I can think of as a negative, honestly.

With media audio controls via the scroll wheel next to the screen and programmable macros button, everything with the SteelSeries Apex 7 TKL Ghost Edition Keyboard is unironically at your fingertips.

Using the program SteelSeries GG, you can customize those and other aspects of your keyboard. Per key RGB is a major plus and adds the ability to put your animated gifs to more use across your keyboard. All in all, this space saving TKL keyboard is nothing short of amazing and compact and services every situation.
