Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart Gameplay Trailer Introduces Female Lombax Rivet

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart female Lombax Rivet

Insomniac Games have released a new gameplay trailer for Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, along with detailing the new female Lombax Rivet.

As previously reported, recurring villain Dr. Nefarious has obtained the Dimensionator; and in the ensuing battle becomes damaged. This begins to tear the fabric of reality apart; separating Ratchet and Clank. The pair now travel across worlds and dimensions, fighting off foes with an arsenal of sci-fi weapons.

In the announcement trailer, the heroes are separated; with Clank finding what seemed to be a female Lombax- Ratchet’s species. In the games, Ratchet is the “last” known Lombax in the universe; the rest of his species having previously been banished from the universe during the great war.

Some easily missed dialogue in Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction notes that the overlooked Angela Cross (from Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando is a Lombax) is a Lombax, and that female Lombax do not have tails. This new female Lombax posses a tail, and white fur instead of the typical sandy-yellow.

You can find her in the latest gameplay trailer below.

Insomniac Games Creative Director has now revealed on PlayStation Blog that she is Rivet; a Lombax from an alternate universe where Emperor Nefarious hunts down all who oppose his rule. As the Doctor states in the trailer, he wants to go to a universe where he “always wins;” and whose motivations in past games have been universal domination, and extinction of all organic life for robot-kind.

Rivet is a resistance fighter, and the new gameplay trailer shows her, Ratchet, and Clank in Nefarious City. Planets from older games will also be appearing with new twists thanks to the dimensions falling apart; including Sargasso and Torren IV.

The trailer’s music is by DEVO, and co-founder Mark Mothersbaugh will be the game’s composer. His past works also include the original Crash Bandicoot and Jak & Daxter games, Rugrats, and Thor Ragnarok.

The Digital Deluxe edition was also detailed; showing five armor sets, a photo mode sticker pack, 20 Raritanium (upgrade materials), and a digital soundtrack and art book.
