Pokemon Sword and Shield Distribute World Champion Wolfe Glick’s Coalossal for Limited Time

Pokemon Sword Shield Wolfe Glick Coalossal

A special Coalossal, based on the one used by former world champion Wolfe Glick, is being distributed for Pokemon Sword and Shield.

As the prior Pokemon World Championships had been cancelled (and are still being cancelled) due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Players Cup sprang up in its place. The latest of these included the Pokemon Players Cup Invitational; an almost Champion of Champions tournament as past winners had been invited.

While the first day of the tournament has just concluded (you can find the replay on Twitch [1, 2]), the livestream also announced the distribution of a Champion’s Pokemon (as prior tournaments have). In this case, a Coalossal based off the one used by Wolfe Glick (one time world champion and two time US national champion).

Coalossal is a Rock and Fire Type, which has a rather unique ability of Steam Engine. This dramatically raises its speed stat when hit by a Water-type move. While such moves are usually 4x super-effective, Glick uses allies using weaker Water moves to trigger the ability.

Combined with holding a Weakness Policy (raising the users offensive stats when hit by a super-effective move), and Colossal becomes a monster. While competitive teams usually avoid focusing on one Pokemon as the lynch-pin of their strategy, Coalossal is undoubtedly the rocky cornerstone of Glick’s team.

Those who wish to obtain their own Glick Coalossal must enter the code V1CT0RYENG1NE25 into the Mystery Gift before August 16th.
