Atlus have released an accolades trailer for Persona 5 Royal, prior to the game’s launch.

An expanded version of Persona 5, the JRPG expands upon the adventures of the Phantom Thieves, While diving into the subconscious of corrupt adults to steal their “treasure” and make them change their ways, Joker and the gang will have more threats to come up against.

The press release also states “Persona 5 DLC will be free for all Persona 5 Royal players.”

For those who missed our prior coverage, Atlus US stated they would be altering scenes for the western version of Persona 5 Royal.

Two stereotypical gay NPCs pursued both Ryuji and the protagonist for comic relief. The scene was change so as not to portray the characters in a “negative light“.

Even though Atlus USA cited feedback from fans of the original game, it seems users of gaming forum ResetEra may have- at least in part- contributed to the complaints toward the scene. Some were motivated by a deep loathing of the Game Director Katsura Hashino, others were unimpressed with the game’s LGBT representation.

How these scenes would be altered was later revealed, making the two characters mistakenly believe Ryuji is into cross-dressing, and forcibly attempting to make him wear women’s clothes and make-up.
