Palworld has unfortunately announced that more changes are on the way, and has also confirmed that they’re effectively being forced due to their ongoing lawsuit with Nintendo.
As previously reported, Palworld changed the way Pals are summoned into the world. Originally, characters would be summoned via a “Pal Sphere”, but speculatively their similarity to Pokeballs was a point of contention.
Pocketpair confirmed this change was due to Nintendo’s aggressive litigation. However the changes won’t stop there, and now Palworld is being forced to change gliding. Now players will no longer be able to fly with their Pals, and instead will have a glider which is given buffs based on their Pals. Because apparently Nintendo is claiming the idea of riding whimsical flying creatures belongs to them.
[Regarding the lawsuit, changes to Palworld and the future]

In the months since the lawsuit began, Nintendo has been aggressively updating and editing existing patents in what appears to be an attempt to strengthen their case against Palworld. Many fans have pointed out that rather than attack Palworld, Nintendo and the Pokemon Company should instead redouble their efforts on making better games.
Palworld was released back in January 2024 for Windows PC (via Steam and the Microsoft Store), Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5. The game has also been on Xbox Game Pass since day one.
