New Arms Trailer Introduces You to the Queen – Twintelle

We’re sure you’re already worshiping her – Nintendo has released a new trailer introducing the Arms character Twintelle.

Featured above, the new trailer introduces the in-game celebrity, who uses her A-list status to leave her enemies “utterly star struck as she walks the red carpet to victory.”

Arms is launching worldwide for the Nintendo Switch on June 16th. The game’s second Global Testpunch event is coming up – read more about it here. You can also find us playing Arms for an hour here.

I’ll give the test punch this weekend another try, but unless Nintendo massively improves the motion controls responsiveness, this is going on the “bargain bin buy” list.

After actually seeing game-play, I now have the impression this is Custom Robo re-skinned.

Is it like Punch Out for the Wii where the motion controls never keep up with your rhythm?

Moving your character (especially turning) is far too slow and sometimes the attacks don’t register properly (such as a single handed punch registering as a grab). It’s also very difficult to punch straight.

Looks like a more improved version of Wii sports boxing to me

Twintelle aside, I like what i’ve seen of the game so far. I was ready to write it off as junk, but it looks to be shaping up pretty well imo.

If Nintendo would just drop the prices on the Switch already i’d pick one up. I’m not shelling out $400 for a console. Never have, never will.

Since when is $300 the same as $400?

  8. totenglocke

MSRP is $300. It’s not Nintendo’s fault if you choose to buy from a reseller or buy a used one.

MSRP may be $300, but when they’re out of stock in all the major stores, all your left with is resellers. Pictured here is Gamestop, BestBuy, and Walmart. If you notice on the very bottom of the image you seem some Switch prices for +$420, and those are from resellers. Also, just checked Target and they too are out of stock.

And that line about it not being Nintendo’s fault is bullshit. If they didn’t intentionally understock the damn things, they wouldn’t be priced this highly by resellers in the first place. Yes it’s my choice, but it’s because there is no other choice when all the major retailers are out of stock.

Damn, sounds basically the same as Wii sports boxing and Punch Out Wii. Slow response rate with not quite accurate motions.

So much for all that hype of “advanced” motion controls.

i think they’re gonna fix it by the time it comes out. the whole purpose of the test-punch is so they can get the feedback from players.

Yeah, well I literally got banned from /r/Nintendoswitch for saying that the motion controls need improvement. If they fix it, I’ll buy the game. Yes, I know that you can use a pro controller, but I’m not a huge fan of fighting games and the only appeal of the game to me is the Wii Boxing style fighting.

It’s not a slow response rate, it’s just the rate of movement while turning is far too slow. If an opponent gets behind you, you’re fucked because you’ll never be able to turn fast enough to get them in your sights.

Sounds lame, they should have just scrapped motion controls altogether. I had more fun playing Punch Out with the Wiimote turned sideways.

Oh yes, Nintendo under stocks so that they can have fewer sales and less profit. We really need intelligence tests before people can use the internet. ?

You can get banned from half of reddit for wearing socks with sandals, that place is a hellhole.
Im quite sure that Nintendo is looking for feedback, they will probably get out a survey later so we can tell them specifically what sucks about the game in this state.

Maybe, but Nintendo does have a tradition of shooting themselves in the foot.

Motion controls are the only thing I find appealing about the game. They just need to improve the speed of movement and make some tweaks to make sure it does register an attack when there isn’t any movement.

“Nintendo under stocks so that they can have fewer sales and less profit.”
No, Nintendo is playing the long game. By under-stocking, they create a much larger demand. By doing this, they have not only the attention/guaranteed purchases from the people that buy into the hype and pick up consoles at launch; but they’re getting middle-of-the-road & “never buy a console at launch” types going ape trying to get their hands on a Switch. By under-stocking, they make the console seem even more EXCLUSIVE or special than it really is.

By under-stocking and creating a large demand like this, they guarantee even more sales than they ever would if they released the console normally. Pair that with the hype of the direct when they first started accepting pre-orders for the Switch and the Zelda BOTW limited editions (which sold out IMMEDIATELY), and it’s a guarantee recipe for big money, big success, and a much longer-lasting demand for the Switch.

Amiibos were just the test run for this method: under-stocking to create more demand. And as we very well know, it worked flawlessly. Amiibos are STILL coveted by collectors to this day because of the way Nintendo manipulated demand by limiting supply. If Nintendo hadn’t intentionally under-stocked amiibos back when they first came out, I’m doubtful the damned things would have the fame they do now. People were (and some still are) clamoring for amiibos, just as people are now clamoring to get their hands on the Switch.

You’d have to be either a moron or just willfully-ignorant to not see what Nintendo’s doing, and what they’ve already done in the past.

Kimishima reminds me of the The Chairman from that anime Prison School, which is 120% okay with me as long as they keep pushing out characters like Twintelle lol:D
