Meet Former Gravure Idol Maiko Shimazaki in Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem

Nintendo and Atlus have shared a new character trailer for Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem (or the tentative title, Genei Ibun Roku #FE).

Featured above, the new trailer introduces Maiko Shimazaki, the president of the Fortuna Entertainment company that employs the various main characters. She’s also a former gravure idol.

Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem is launching for Wii U in Japan on December 26th, followed by sometime next year in both North America and Europe.

Thanks, Gematsu

Every time I get nervous about a game that NoA seems likely to censor for a NA release, I remember why I started learning Japanese in the first place and learn a bit more.

Now if only Nintendo could stop being ridiculous about region locking so that I don’t have to double up on consoles I already own then I’d be set.

Do we know who is actually doing the localization yet?

Hopefully Atlus will handle it themselves, because who knows just how badly NoA would mangle it.

There actually is a good chance Atlus will do it. Especially since FE is just a waifu game now, and Atlus games prefer to translate instead of localize (including keeping Japanese honorifics in names). Plus, due to the style of the game (two massive RPGs with idol master elements) I think NOA won’t run the localizing, because they don’t think it’ll do well outside of Japan.
While I absolutely loathe the style of the game, I’m willing to bet it’ll do well.

Atlus censored dungeon travelers 2 and lied about why. They can’t be trusted.

Apparently .Koei Tecmo lended them their boobs physics, anyway it seems way to “japanese” to come to the west. I can stand Xenoblade Chronicles for that girl character but this…

Having a hard time caring about this game anymore

we all KNOW it’s going to be censored anyway so really why care?

until the wiiu is hacked or emulation works well enough so people can make fan translations and uncensor patches like with 3DS there’s no point in caring about a nintendo published game that isn’t their standard kiddy fair like mario or zelda

This looks horrible. Guess they kept both franchises names.

They took xenoblade and butchered it so anything can happen.

Additionally remember the interviews with Xseed, they said they wouldn’t be handling some games with Nintendo and censorship was a subject they hinted as the source of the problem.

And there were comments that NOE said the censorship was requested to them and not their choice.

Worst case scenario, and very possible, Nintendo is requesting the censorship from the top and whoever’s localizing has to follow along so regardless of it being Atlus this could still be given the Nintendo Censorship Seal of Approval.

What do you guys think Nintendo will change her former job to? Maybe a nun or a kindergarten teacher. They’ll probably keep her as a model someone who modeled burkas so they can just over any scenes the game might have.
