KOS-MOS Returns in Xenoblade Chronicles 2

Nintendo has announced the Xenosaga character KOS-MOS is getting a cameo in Xenoblade Chronicles 2.

The weaponized, walking fem-bot can be found in the game as a Rare Blade called “KOS-MOS Re:.”

Here’s a look at her reveal trailer:

KOS-MOS is designed by Kunihiko Tanaka and voiced by Mariko Suzuki.

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is launching on December 1st for the Nintendo Switch.

Kos-Mos Obey Strategic Multiple Operation Systems. Love how I still remember what that stands for.

Now if only we could get the Xenosaga trilogy to be re-released on modern platforms and PC somehow. I have always wanted to play through them.

I knew it all along! The Xeno games were always connected to each from the start!!

Yeah, probably should’ve been left secret although this makes me really want to get this game and the Switch. I really liked the Xenosaga trilogy and it’s probably the main reason why I got Xenoblade at all.

What ever happened to keeping some things about games secret before it comes out and letting people experience it? I don’t think the devs should’ve revealed that at all, it’s dumb. Instead someone actually finding her in the game would’ve been a much cooler way for it to be found out.

I’ve heard that the xenoblade games are a spiritual successor to the xenosaga series. (which are in turn a spiritual successor to xenogears)
Though I only played some of xenosaga 1, it just didn’t hold me.

Also I agree with the others about this probably should have stayed a secret.

So, is this a nice little throwback, or a hint at a possible Xenosaga trilogy remake!? Or maybe even a hint at a Project X Zone 3…

Did they really have to spoiler that?

I’m already thinking of gorgeous HD 2D Sprite work.

KOS-MoOS looks tiny in that picture.

Not with cheap ass BandaiNamco in ownership of that series.

I’m surprised they didn’t hide her behind an amiibo.

Depends, I have no faith that Bamco will fund it, but Nintendo might step in, considering they own Monolith who developed the series originally, and Katsuhiro Harada wanted the original developer to handle the remake, who knows.

I feel almost forced to get a Switch. This is sad. Haven’t really enjoyed the other Xenoblades but KOS-MOS is so amazing I might have to.

The canonical implications of this are ridiculous

KOS-MOS is the closest thing I’ve ever had to a “waifu” in a game so I’m happy to see her.

Way to fuck up one of her most iconic weapons, the twin gatlings. Those Zohar-looking things look super lame to me.

Also, just gonna echo the sentiment that they should have kept this as a secret. Knowing that KOS-MOS is just a cameo is disheartening too, just confirms in my eyes that Xenosaga is pretty much dead and buried, cut down before its prime, and all they’re doing is reanimating the corpse of one of its best characters for nostalgia’s sake.

Where is my Bates Kaitos 3?

First one was actually pretty decent. Second one? Ugh….combat was TERRIBLE and kinda kills the whole game for me. Third one makes a nice turn around though.

Yeah, that is generally what I have heard about the series as a whole. I would really like to get in to them, but unfortunately acquiring physical PS2 copies is quite expensive nowadays.

I’d agree with you about 2, but Xenosaga 3 was probably the greatest jrpg of that console generation in terms of battle system alone, but also supported by a best-in-class scenario making it far and away the greatest ps2-era rpg.

Now that you mention it, Switch would be the perfect platform for Bandai to pursue that franchise in again.

If they did, that would be the one amiibo I would have owned both in terms of being able to justify a KOS-MOS statue and having her in-game.

I’d rather they not be; revelations in Xenosaga make light of a lot of the cool shit that happened in Xenogears. I wouldn’t even know how to place Xenoblade Chronicles into the cosmology though haha.

Why not a Kos-Mos scaled figure? Much better quality and larger depending on the scale. A figure of the MC’s blade wouldn’t be so bad either.

Well it’s hinted that Xenosaga Ep.3 leads to Xenogears and it makes more sense if Xenoblade is at the end given what’s shown in the last part of the game.
