Kamiya Confirms Bayonetta 3 is Not Cancelled, “We’re Still Hard at Work”

Bayonetta 3

PlatinumGames game director Hideki Kamiya has stated that Bayonetta 3 has not been cancelled, and that the team are “still hard at work.”

While the third game in the action game series was announced in late 2017 during The Game Awards, we had not heard any more information since then. No gameplay has been shown at this time either. In 2018, it was stated development was going very, very well.”

Now, during an interview with Video Games Chronicle (VGC), PlatinumGames executive director and producer Atsushi Inaba and Kamiya discussed recent developments and projects in the company. The majority of these came via the “Platinum 4” announcements [1234].

At the very end, VGC asked about Bayonetta 3.

“VGC: Finally, Kamiya-san, are you bored of being asked about where Bayonetta 3 is yet?

Kamiya: I’m on Twitter so I see a lot of comments every day. I’m happy that there’s still anticipation for the title, but one thing I would like to address is the trend I’m seeing which is people who are starting to ask if the game has been cancelled. I want you guys to take any concerns you have like that and throw them out the window immediately because we’re still hard at work on it and it hasn’t been cancelled by any means. Please look forward to it!”

VGC also inquired about the Platinum 4 announcements, and the fifth and final announcement. “I don’t think we can divulge any information on that at this point,” Inaba states “but I do hope that it’s something that our fans can look forward to.”

In earlier news, PlatinumGames also confirmed they has received no offer of a buy-out from Microsoft, and such an action would be “the opposite” of their self-publishing objectives.

Bayonetta 3 is coming soon to Nintendo Switch.
