Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition Announced for Nintendo Switch

Nintendo has announced Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition for the Nintendo Switch.

The new “ultimate version” of the game will launch for the hybrid console sometime this spring.

Fans can expect full high-definition graphics, as well as every map, mission, and all the playable characters from both the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS versions of the game – as well as all of the previously released paid downloadable content. You can also expect outfits for Link and Zelda based on The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

Glad I passed on this for 3DS. Still waiting for Super Mario 3D World, Tropical Freeze, and some other ports.

After hyrule warriors on the 3ds and fe warriors on the switch i’ve had my fill of warriors for a while.

But if you haven’t played this game yet i really recommend it, it’s fun and has a giant roster of playable characters.

100% Completing it is hell though.

I got the 3DS version so I’ll pass on it, but still, it’s really smart of Nintendo to bring this over! Wii U updated Ports are a great way to hold the fort in-between releases of original games!

I think we all knew this was coming. Well. At least I did, so that’s why I never bought the DLC or 3DS version.

Yup, was hoping for it too. I had been interested in some of the DLC for the 3DS version but didn’t want the downgraded graphics or gameplay.

Especially with how poorly the system sold. Quite a few people missed out on its library, so while the games aren’t that old ports make sense in this case. Reminds me of the Dreamcast and its early demise.

I was actually hoping this would get ported to the Switch, I’d rather play this again over that FE Warriors crap! At least with Hyrule Warriors the selection of characters is better than what FE Warriors cast of characters, minus Vaati, the one character many fans asked for but never got because Nintendo doesn’t listen to the fans AT ALL!
Still I pick Hyrule Warriors over FE Warriors any day of the week, plus with the added bonus of it being a complete and superior version to the WiiU and 3ds versions including all dlc it’s worth another buy.

I may as well toss my Wii U in the trash, since at this point the exclusive software (that’s worth a damn) on there is getting down into the single digits.

Thank you Nintendo, is good to know that my loyalty for sticking with your failing platform was so valued and cherished.

The only port I wanted was smash but looks like they might just make a brand new one at this point with the squidlings, Rex/Pyra/Mythra, and rabbits of some compacity

  17. Arenegeth

Nah, I was being hyperbolic, I would never throw the damn thing away, or sell it for that matter. But I’m obviously bitter, about the entire library being ported away bit by bit, and not just directly, but with superior ports (in terms of content).

And this case is particularly egregious for me, because not only have I bought Hyrule Warriors 4 times already (EU and JP limited editions of both versions) and spend over 300 hours on the Wii U version (that could have easily being patched with the 3DS content by the way) but I also just bought the last few DLC characters a few days ago, after holding out on it for so long.

So this announcement feels like a big slap to the face.

You already have the games, retard. No one is making you rebuy them. Are you seriously one of those butthurt people who get mad when a game gets ported to another system so more people can play it?

on one hand, I can totally understand your frustration of wanting the 3DS content on the Wii U, but still, I don’t think it’s fair to criticize Nintendo for making enhanced ports. they’re giving new people a chance to play what they otherwise wouldn’t. (I got Hyrule Warriors on the 3DS myself, and While I didn’t get the dlc I’m not planning to get the switch version, but I still think it’s a smart decision).

  20. Arenegeth
    January 11, 2018 at 3:37 pm

No, I’m one of those people, that doesn’t like buying things twice (or more), or be stuck with the lesser version if he doesn’t, when he paid full price at day one. If they updated my version of the game, with the content of the new one (for a reasonable price of course) I wouldn’t care.

Definitive editions are only meant to force you to double dip or feel like you gotten a lesser product, so you lose either way, cause if you don’t pay twice you get less than those who did or waited and only got that version, and if you did. Well you get to pay twice for the same game.

And let’s be honest now, if it wasn’t for exclusives, the console market wouldn’t exist anyway, given how accessible and affordable PC’s are these days while also being superior in most ways.

    January 11, 2018 at 3:42 pm

Those people should have bought a Wii U if they wanted to play that game, especially now that is obsolete and is getting cheaper than ever, that’s why I did.

But apparently, I should have skipped the damn thing and waited for a Switch instead, in fact I think buying any game at day 1 is a bad idea these days, I regret it about half the time I do so.

This, I won’t mind paying a little to make my copy of MK8 into the Deluxe Edition, but I’m not buying a switch and Mario Kart again just for a real battle mode and some features I’m not going to use. I already paid $72 for MK8, I don’t want to add another $360.

  25. totenglocke
    January 11, 2018 at 6:29 pm

Exactly. It’s the smart thing to do because it requires very little effort / money to port them compared to making a new game and not only will plenty of people re-buy it for portability or improved graphics, but millions of people who didn’t own a Wii U will buy them as well.

  26. totenglocke
    January 11, 2018 at 6:31 pm

Huh, you usually only see that kind of butthurt from the Xbox fanboys since their console hasn’t had an exclusive in two years and has none in development either.

  27. SullenSamurai
    January 11, 2018 at 7:41 pm

Same. This was a hypothetical must-have for me for months now. Because of the later-released 3DS port, there was no definitive version of this game; Wii U for graphical fidelity, 3DS for additional content. Now we can have a version that’s the best of both worlds. Good for fans of the game, and great for people they never got around to playing it (the Wii U wasn’t exactly a rousing success).

Yeah, I know, it’s why I didn’t buy it. But it did have exclusive content, so I’m glad they include that in the Switch version.
