Fully Rendered Penises and Vaginas Found in Watch Dogs 2 – Ubisoft to Only Remove Ladybits

watch-dogs-2-11-11-16-1

Now that Watch Dogs 2 has been released for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, users have been naturally documenting literally anything they can in Ubisoft’s new sandbox hacker-themed game.

One such user, Goron2000 on NeoGAF, discovered that fully-rendered vaginas and penises are in the game. He first discovered the above scene when “accidentally” blowing up a female NPC with a city gas pipeline. Upon further inspection, he noticed masterfully-crafted female genitalia, in full 3D.

Following his publishing of this find on the internet via his PlayStation 4’s sharing functionality, Sony actually banned his PlayStation Network account. While they’ve since rescinded his ban, Ubisoft is now looking into the matter and is actually readying a patch to remove the offending naughty bits, next week.

It remains to be seen if this only affects “the one female NPC” as Ubisoft reports, or if there are other NPC models in-game that just haven’t been discovered to be completely rendered, if you know what I mean.

The strangest thing from this report is the fact that fully-rendered male genitalia are in the game, and Ubisoft’s statement made no mention of removing those.

“While Watch Dogs 2 is a mature-rated game, we apologise and will update this NPC model to make it more consistent with other NPC models in the game in a patch to be released this week,” reads their statement.

“We also are working with our first-party partners to ensure that players can continue to play and share all content from the game within the bounds of the first parties’ respective codes of conduct.”

Watch Dogs 2 is currently available for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One – the PC release is coming on November 29th.

Why did they put them in in the first place??
How did it get past the ESRB??

The problem here is that Sony randomly banned someone who shared content in a game that was approved for the platform. Their Terms of Service are too vague and they can apply them selectively. Also Ubisoft are pussies for removing the model – pun completely intended.

Those are valid questions.Maybe they added them into the game to cause some drama and get free advertisement.

So, lady bits are somehow taboo while man bits are a-ok. That doesn’t sound sexist at all.

Yep. It seems dumb that the game passed certification with forbidden content and the player got banned because of both companies bad oversight. At least it’s a temporary ban.

What I think happened is that there’s probably a cutscene (likely one where you don’t have control over the camera) where they wanted to have the full frontal nudity and the full rendered vagina there at some point (as it’s written in their ESRB text), but they let the realistic model from the cutscene wander around the streets by mistake. In that case it’s not really ‘censorship’ IMO, it’s more like a series of people fucking up in two different companies.

The ESRB had already known and approved of female full frontal nudity for a Mature rating (check the description of the game on their website). Nudity by it self would not get you an AO rating, is well within the boundaries of Mature, even if fully rendered female genitalia in particular, are a rarity.

As for why the added them? I truly don’t know, I mean it would make sense for nudity to be part of any mature game given context, but in this SJW infested climate, I have no idea why they went ahead with it.

Only decent explanation I can come up with is they bought the female body model somewhere instead of making their own and it came with a vagina which they forgot to remove.

I think it’s a bug those NPCs are wandering the game world. They are prob from a cutscene… I don’t think every character model has fully rendered genitals or else ESRB would’ve noticed and issued an AO rating, or at least warned “character models might be posed to show full rendered genitals in certain situations” :P. It’d be hard to miss.

  15. Gaspar

Yes, but in cutscenes. Some ratings are over auntity or context of the obscenity in question. Like, for exemple in movies you can have a PG13 if you say “shit” once, but if you say it throughout the whole movie the age rating goes up.

Same with nudity, if it appears in a cutscene or two, it’s mature, even a riské sex scene is still ok, but if there’s dicks and vaginas everywhere wandering around town — where you can move the camera and pose them, etc — it might get you an AO.

Good point, but you wouldn’t expect random NPCs in an open world game to actually have them, it’s just strange. What is also strange is that the penises aren’t being patched.

No, as seen from this same game, this was rated M and it has rendered penises outside cutscenes (besides the fact that it doesn’t matter where it is for the ESRB, context is too minimal).

Somebody that actually bought this game, should take pictures of a dead (I assume you can also kill them) naked peeing male bum and post them on Twitter, see if that gets them banned or noticed at all.

The double standard is strong with this one.

So much for equality I suppose….

For the record, there’s also a mission (or so I read, no interest in the game) that takes place in a nudist park or whatever, so there was a very good reason to have lots of fully rendered naked people of both genders in the game.

Well, I admittedly still didn’t play the game, so I can’t comment much. But every video I see of naked people in WD2 it really looks like out of place models. They are wandering the streets naked or dancing, so it makes no sense that that area should be populated by those models.

    http://www.keengamer.com/article/14924_naked-people-appear-in-watch-dogs-2-nsfw

That’s why I think it’s a bug (wouldn’t be THAT surprising, considering it’s an Ubi game).

Here’s a handy guide for Ubisoft
1.Make a game about fighting the power
2.Make a open world game about mowing down hordes of grandmas as you pull off sick stunt jumps
You can only only pick one, you can only pick both if it’s a satirical farce that mocks the concept of fighting the power while being a mass spree killer.

I’m very late but that’s not true at all.
Select games support images on Miiverse and it isn’t exclusively tied to an age rating, ecchi elements, language or violence.

The following games support images on Miiverse:
    Bayonetta series.
    AVGN game.
Toshin Toshi (a remake of H-game from the PC)
    High School DxD
    Conception 2 (Europe version)
Xenoblade X including the uncensored version.

    The following games don’t:
    Pokemon X & Y
    Senran Kagura anything.

It seems to be a limitation tied to individual games since it was content, Nintendo have games to remove which they published and have no good reason to avoid having a main series Pokemon having the feature.
